My First Shot at a Wedding

Ok, So I have been fairly negligent to keep this blog active over the summer. No clue why really... Just haven't. Well for all you people who see this post the photos are of a wedding that I went to shoot with Louisville Wedding Photographer Eric Graf three weeks ago. The wedding reception was at the bride's family's house in Hopkinsville, Ky. where it rained all morning and most of the afternoon. However the rain subsided long enough for family and friends to celebrate a marriage in a backyard tent reception. These are just a few frames I took at my first wedding. Its a start.

Thoughts on an Author

OK. I am going to try something new here. No photo talk for once. Well more like the second time but who cares. I was reading this blog post by Author Donald Miller yesterday and it kind of got me thinking again. If you have a few minuets I would suggest reading it. He responds to an article written about him in some mag. Now a lot of stuff is brought up in both articles but I want to just point out something that stood out to me. I believe that Miller has a great point in talking about how he interacts and love both the "Wacko Republican Fundamentalist, and the Fruity Nut Liberals" equally. Why does a "Christian" have to pledge allegiance to one side or the other? Just a thought. Through what I have experience in life (which i know may not be much) I feel that life needs to be lived in a balance, and if one professes to be a follower of Christ than there is going to need to be a struggle to stay true to truth and balance it with the world we live in. OK enough for now.

New Work with WKU

I have been working @ Western now for two weeks and I haven't gotten sick of it yet. It's a great job to have and I get to pursue a passion of mine. I couldn't ask for more. Because all of my work for Western is technically owned by the University I will just have to send you all over to the WKU visuals photo blog. From now on if you want to see work from my summer job I would ask for you to head over there. No worries though, I will continue to post other work out on this blog. Its not like all I do is shoot for Western....

This past Memorial Day Weekend I was in Boston for the NCAA Lacrosse Championships. It was a great weekend of great lacrosse in which Cortland State, CW Post and Syracuse all won the championship in their respective divisions. While there we got to visit my god mother and her family. The following are just a select group of images from the weekend. There should be large pano coming soon of the Stadium.

Something New

Summer has begun and I have found some extra time to update this thing. The plan is to post images from my final story this semester and just some other things that I have been working on. I'll be in Kentucky for the summer which is more exciting than it sounds I promise. It's going to be a good summer. Images to come soon.

Semester almost over.

So this was for some work on my after school program for kids called kaleidoscope. It focuses on the fine arts and giving kids from low income families a chance to expand their interests in things like photography, drawing, and painting.
Great light and a great night of bluegrass music.
Last Friday I traveled up to Rosine, Ky with my fellow photojournalist Austin to do some portrait work. The sunset was too captivating to miss.
It was pouring rain after the dance and Anathallo finished their set, that we missed, so we decided to sit in the car and listen to their album.
A few weekends ago I had the chance to go visit my good friend Tara and go to her semi-formal. Good times.

The semester is winding down and it is that time of year when projects and finals lurk in the minds of all. Through all of the stresses I still have a final story to tell for my into class. The story is on a 14 year old girl who has high functioning autism. Great family and a really important story. Pictures to come after it completes.

So the past month has been quite an addition to my life story. There are quite a lot of events that have shaped my view and understanding of the world we live in and how delicate life can be. As crazy and eventful as my story has become there are still people out in the world around me that have stories that are more tragic, dramatic, joyful, and beautiful that need to be told. This is just some of the work from the last month or so....

Miller vs. Apple co.

So I ran across this blog the other day by Donald Miller and I kind of lightheartedly laughed. Sad but true at times. The post is about the advertising of Apple computers and the image it has created. Its worth your time if you want a good laugh.
